A principal use of the MCP 124 alloy is in tube and section bending for which it is often preferred on very large cross-sections where, unlike the lower temperature alternatives, it need not to be quenched to bring it to the best condition for the process; with a melting point above 100°C, its disadvantage is in requiring special melt out techniques.

The principal uses of the MCP 137 alloy are work-holding (for example – turbine blade manufacture), fusible cores, short run prototype press tooling and fusible safety devices. Its main attribute is minimal volume change between its liquid state and solid state.

The principal use of the MCP 150 alloy is in work-holding in the turbine blade industry. Other applications include fusible safety devices and safety valves.

Use of the alloy is mainly in the optical industry for lens blocking. It can also be used for work-holding where particularly low temperatures are required. Other uses include: fusible safety devices and proof casting.

MCP 61 alloy is mainly used in the optical industry for lens blocking and may be preferred on grounds of health and safety or for environmental reasons.

The MCP 69 alloy was introduced to overcome the problem of the voids which are occasionally found to form through segregation during very slow cooling of the related MCP 70 alloy during the preparation of shields for use in radiotherapy. This remains the principal use, although it finds occasional application as thermal fuse material.

A traditional and still important use of the MCP 70 alloy is in tube and section bending for which it needs to be quenched to bring it to the best condition for process; with a melting point well below 100°C, its advantage over alternative alloys lies in the simple, low cost melt out techniques that can be used. Other uses include work-holding, fusible core applications, radiation shielding and fusible safety devices.
